Physical training provides athletes with increased strength, muscle memory, increased flexibility and faster reaction times. However, the physical part is just one component. At the height of competition, the ability to manage emotional responses is often the difference between winning and losing.
HeartMath techniques can be used as a preparation before playing or competing in sports, similar to stretching and other exercises. It will help prevent ‘choking’ by adding rhythm to your brainmuscle coordination and providing faster energy recuperation under pressure.
The emWave system provides objective, real-time feedback and allows athletes to better self-regulate their tension and emotional responses, especially in challenging situations.
Course length varies from 4 – 6 one hour sessions and can be adapted to meet your objectives and training and competition schedule. Courses can be provided either face to face or over the telephone. The customised sessions will focus on using the HeartMath techniques to achieve your personal goals and will incorporate the innovative, award-winning emWave technology.
The sports psychologist for the Canadian Olympic swimming team attended a training programme at the Heartmath Instititute. After coaching his athletes in the HeartMath technique, several of his previous medal-winning athletes went on to knock 0.2seconds off their swim times and one of his female swimmers went on to set a world record.
“Through using HeartMath techniques I have been able to accomplish all I’m doing. During my championship season, it was essential to relax when I needed to handle the stress associated with competing and frequent travel to tournaments. Add to this the need to overcome setbacks from injuries and keeping the competitive edge.”
